SUSPENSIONS

All of us at Fyre Body Arts keep an open mind to learn and accept new ideas and techniques. Suspension is not for everyone but we ask that if you view this page that you ONLY view it if you have an open mind and respect. The people and images you will see are only a glimpse of the emotional and spiritual power suspension can have. They are very meaningful to us and though you may not be able to get past the graphicness of the images we ask that you try.
The art of suspension dates back as far as the 1700’s. More modernly and commercially, people have been experimenting with suspension for the past 20-30 years. Suspension is a broad term. Tugging and pulling are also done where a person with hooks in the skin pulls against a stable object or another person. It all begins with piercing the skin and inserting sterile hooks. The hooks are most commonly salmon hooks with the barbs filed down. These are not piercings you keep. The hooks are removed after the suspension or pull and the holes heal up as small scars.
Why do we do it? It is as different as the individual themselves. Commonly people suspend as a release and a way to cope with a struggle in their life. Some suspend to mark a time in their life or as a rite of passage. The exhilaration of it all is enough for some to do it. Finding your outer and inner strength is inevitable, so that becomes a reason. Whatever the reason, it is always powerful, to witness and experience.
We offer clean, safe suspension under non-judging conditions. We stand for an era of modification. We believe that we are guides for those who want to suspend for any reason. Our goals are to offer an unforgettable experience to those interested in suspension. We value the body, spirit and path of everyone. We feel it is most important that we keep an open mind and heart for those suspending because they are transitioning in life, searching for strength, overcoming a tragedy, looking for their inner self, and all the unspoken reasons. Forever we will feel rewarded to witness expressions of pain and sorrow transform to happiness and relief.
